Week 5 - B&W Film

for my 5th week I did a Black & White Film shoot. My chosen location was at my local church In St Columb Major. For a change I thought It would be good to use a disposable camera Instead. I liked the Idea of this but unfortunately the day was abit overcast and It was quite late therefore my pictures werent as good as I hoped they would. I like the pictures themselves, I think the church yard was a very good location as Is It a magnificant building with many quirky features.

This one was way too dark as you can tell, but you can still see the shapes of the tower and the trees. I like the angle I took It at. I would definately like to go back and try another shoot of this soon.

I like this one the best, the door doesnt look very small but actually It was tiny, I thought It was cute and quirky. I chose this one because of the stone work around the archway. The door Itself Is about 4 Inches thick.

I liked the shape of this corner around the back of the church. I also like this door, they all seem to be different and hand made many years ago. I liked that It was on a corner not a flat wall. You cant see them as Its too dark, but there were a few Gargoyles either side of the door at the top, I thought these made It Interesting and a little bit scary.

This was one of the last photos I took but Im glad I noticed It as I thought It was rather odd. There was an old tomb but there was a massive tree root coming out of the side and forching the lid up. You cant see much of the detail but when I go back and take anothe shoot here I will make sure I capture all of It. I chose to do IT at this angle so you could see Inside the tomb and also see the root.

This on Is of a rusty old drainpipe running up the side of the big tower, covered In Ivy. I took It very low down to try and get all of It In. The Ivy almost looks like barbwire wrapped around It. You cant see the Intricate design of the Ivy or the rust bubbling up and flaking off the pipe. I enjoyed shotting at this location and will be back there very soon.

Week 4 - People

For my 4th week I did People. I didnt want to do whole body photos or portraiture, I wanted to capture the body In more detail so I did close ups of parts of the body, mainly the head/face as thats the main part of the body, It Is what people look at first and most. I wanted to capture the tone and the age of skin. e.g wrinkles, eye creases, grey hair etc.

I really love the hair In this photo, the color of It shows ageing which Is what I was trying to portray, but the skin tone still looks healthy and Pink therefore messing with my concept and making you wonder what age the subject really Is.

This one however, I think looks quite young as she has mascara on and Its been edited and these things are accosiated with younger models.

This Is my favorite out of the 5, It shows real character and detail. I like the lines of the palm, It Is best viewed enlarged as you can see all the handprints and dryskin. I like the Interesting angle as at first It doesnt look like a hand.

This one really shows the age of the subject, you can really see the wrinkles. The face looks worn.

This one was the last one I took just as a random photo, but I actually liked how It came out. I like that you can see Individual hairs that arent In place and curve everywhere. You cant tell the age though this photo as It just looks like a young persons hair, there arent any signs to give It away.

Week 3 - A splash of color.

For my 3rd week I chose Color and I'm really pleased with how they came out. I did close ups of objects around my house that were colorful. I decided to edit some of the photos to bring out the color abit more, and make them more vivid. I really really hope you enjoy my photos as much as I do.

These 2 pictures are of my pencil pot, I like the funny angles that I captured them In. If you view the Image larger, Click Here you can see the fine details of the pens and pencils, even down to the dust.

These 2 were of all my nail varnishes. I think they make a good splash of color. The top one I just put them In random places and took It at an interesting angle but the bottom one I lined them up uni formally but I also cropped this one so It was just the bottles and a bit of the tops, then I edited It to show off the colors.

This pair of my curly straws were very pleasing to the eye, not only for the color but also the crazy shapes of them. I cropped the top one completely to get a close up of just the straight part and the bottom one to get just the curly parts but I also edited this one lots and changed the contrast so the colors were very vibrant and different from each other. I loved working with color the most.

This Is my very big, extravagant ring, the ring Itself Isn't very colorful, but when I took It and the light from the flash hit the jewels It brought out colors that I didn't realise were In them. I cropped this picture so you could see the colors In detail, but to really see the beauty of this picture you need to enlarge It, here Is the Link to do that. This one turned out a lot better than I thought It would as there were more colors than to be expected.

This Is a bracelet and an old necklace of mine. The flash has really brought out the colors In the bracelet and the scratches on the pendant. even though the top half of the photo Is very colourful but the bottom half Isn't, I enjoy how the the stones In the bracelet reflect color and shape onto the face of the pendant bring color over to the bottom half an balancing It out.

Fruit never disappoints with Its color. Over the years I have taken a lot of photographs of fruit and vegetables because of their color,I have used It a lot In my art at school. These strawberries were what gave me the Inspiration for my color shoot, I opened the fridge and the color hit me straight away so I started talking some photos of them, then I decided to go round + search for everyday objects around my room that people seem to overlook. There are only 2 main colors but the detail Is amazing!

Week 2 - Sun, Sea and Sand.

For my second week I chose land again as the photos I took at the beach came out really nice and some have lovely color In. I enjoyed taking these photos as the weather at the time was really good and I loved the way the sun shined through and on objects. I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I do.

This Is an example of why I love taking photos when the sun Is out. It brings out all the lovely colors, I love how the sun has come out In this one, so bright and reflective, the shine of the grass looks like a spiral or a spider web.

Treyannon Bay, St Merryn.
I think this Is a wonderful photo as I love the color blue and the shades of the water are beautiful! It reminds me of many days that my brother and I have spent on that beach and In that rockpool, It looks calm In the photo but the sea behind Is decieving because It was actually quite rough that day.

Peeking through the sand dunes at Mawgan Porth. This photo has a nice Depth of Field, and I like the shapes the water has made, the tide has gone out and left patches of water behind. Also, the massive cliff has overshadowed half the beach but not the sea so you can still see the bright blue water.

Further along the coast at Treyannon Bay overlooking Constantine Bay. The cliffs are very low so I climbed down and although I was very close to water you still get a wide view as It's very open. It Is a simple photo but very meaningful. The rocks In the middle are Interesting as they are very flat and low down.

I love the clear sky In this one and how the bright blue contrasts with the green of the marram grass. You get a warm, cosy feeling from this photo. Again, very simple but very effective.

Week 1 - A White winter.

The first week Is based on 'Landscape' so I have pictures of this January's snow days. They were taken around my house and estate. I really liked how they have come out and these were my 5 favorite. My very favorite is the one of the tree. I think everything looks beautiful when covered in a blanket of snow.

This Is the house my mother lived In, It Is across the field from my house. As I was walking around my estate I noticed the house peeping though the trees and thought It looked wonderful with all the snow but also the sun shinging everywhere, I had to take a photo, I like how the photo Is devided Into 3 parts, the snowy forefront, the subject In the middle and the fluffy clouds In the sky for the top.

This Is my front garden, but to me, It looked like a secret back garden, It was dark, crispy and cold, but the rays of sun give It a warming tone and makes the picture that little bit more pleaseing to the eye.

This photo was taken In the morning when the snow was at Its thickest, you can see all the snow falling Infront of the green trees. I was lucky to get this photo as the main big tree has now been cut down. I love how, untouched the snow Is, It looks perfect.

This one was taken shortly after the one above, you can see the snow falling again but In the sky this time. The fence and the brambles look like someone has come and sprinkled Icing sugar all over them, It Is so crisp and clear. You can faintly see the hedge row In the background but only slightly as the snow was so thick and coming down so fast.

I thought this was the best out of the 5 I put up. Ive had some really nice comments about It and I think It looks just magical. The snow almost reminds me of fairy lights all over the tree or millions of fireflys. Out of the 5 that are up, this one was the only one taken at night. I like all the different sizes of the snow flakes, some look massive, and some look microscopic, I also like how the big ones are out of focus and the rest of the image Is In focus.
